Welcome From The President of NWWOCN

Welcome to the Northwest Regional of the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses Society website. The NWWOCN is a group of professional nurses and associates of various backgrounds and experiences whose goal is to provide expert care to patients and their families with wounds, ostomies, and/or incontinence.

We strive to enhance our own clinical knowledge through education, clinical, and research opportunities. We aim to advance our practice and guide the delivery of expert health care using evidenced based practices.

As an affiliate of the National Society of WOCN, volunteer leaders spend many hours in planning to fulfill our mission and goals. Some of these goals include:

  1. Sponsor teens to attend a summer camp for ostomates.
  2. Conduct an annual education program that is open to nonmembers.
  3. Promote mentoring of new members and support of one another.
  4. Support continuing nursing education by offering scholarships.
  5. Play an active role in legislation impacting current trends in healthcare.
  6. Communicate to the membership through a regional newsletter and through the web site.
  7. Tend to the business of the society through regular business meetings of the membership and conference calls among Board members.

I am pleased to serve as President during the 2006-2008 term. If you would like to serve on a committee or have suggestions on how to improve our organization, please feel free to contact me at: dlparker@comcast.net or dparker@peacehealth.org
